A little imagination.

A lot of possibility.

Nerdstrong brings coaching, strength training, and a love of games together in one room. It’s a place to try something challenging, discover what you can do, and become the teammate who helps someone else do the same.

Built for geek culture. Open to everyone.

meet Andrew

Designer. Gym founder. plucky sidekick.

I’m Andrew Deutsch, and I founded Nerdstrong in 2013. I am a certified personal trainer and strength & conditioning coach. My background is in communication design, with experience working at companies like Disney, Fandango, and Edmunds. I’ve spent much of my career thinking about how people experience things: what makes something approachable, what sparks curiosity, and what makes you want to keep going.

Nerdstrong brings that thinking into fitness. How do you make a challenging workout inviting? How do you help someone understand the next step? And how much more fun could that step be if there were a dungeon involved?

For me, imaginative programming and thoughtful coaching go hand in hand. The story gives us something to play with. The training gives us something to challenge us. The door at the end of the dungeon is slightly ajar; the world beyond awaits.

Will you join us in your next adventure?

Our origin story

Every adventure starts somewhere.

I founded Nerdstrong in Los Angeles in 2013. What began in my garage grew into a gym community where strength and conditioning shared space with game-inspired challenges, teamwork, and a healthy appreciation for the ridiculous.

One day I thought, “What if there was a dungeon in this workout?”

A workout could become a quest. A roomful of people could become a party. Along the way, members were practicing movements, building strength, and discovering that they could tackle things that once felt out of reach.

That combination of effort, shared imagination, and people rooting for one another is at the heart of Nerdstrong.

A woman with a backpack waves hello, near a bicycle and a sign with dumbbell and star graphics. The background features a city skyline, a bridge over a river, a mountain, and the sun rising or setting.
